$1.3 billion gas pipeline deal concluded between Iran and Turkey

Iran’s Oil Ministry said Friday that it had signed a 1 billion euro ($1.3 billion) pipeline deal to take gas to Turkey, while Ankara denied that the state was involved and a firm called Som Petrol said it was the partner. A senior official said Iran would pay a transit fee to export its gas to Europe using the 660-kilometer pipe.

“The pipeline will enable Iran to export 50 million to 60 million cubic meters of gas per day,” Javad Oji, head of the National Iranian Gas Export Co., said on the ministry web site.
