CPC shareholders want to increase the pipeline's capacity by the end of 2010

 

Shareholders in CPC intend to complete preliminary work, including the holding of tenders, on their project to increase the capacity of the CPC pipeline by the end of the year, Novosit Kazakhstan reports, citing a news release from Transneft. According to the TRansneft release, Transneft President Nikolay Tokarev and Chevron's Vice-President for Eurasia, Europe and the Middle East, Ian McDonald met to dicuss issues related to enlarging the pipeline and problems that could arise with increasaing the volume of Caspian crude shipped through Black Sea straits.


"Both sides expressed a concern with bureaucratic hurdles linked to preparing documents needed to begin construction. However, during the course of talks, they came to the opinion that as a result of staffing decision made recently, all preliminary work, including the holding of necessary tenders, would be finished by the end of the year", Transneft reported.
